NEWPORT NEWS, Va. —Richmond junior Matthew Lowe was selected as the Atlantic 10 Golfer of the Week, while St. Bonaventure freshman Nolan Ditcher was chosen as the league’s Rookie of the Week. The awards were announced Thursday and are for events played April 6–12.
Lowe, a Farmingdale, N.Y., native produced the best round of his spring during the final round of the Gary Koch Invitational, carding a 3-under 69, en route to completing the tournament with a 2-under par 214 for the week, good for a tie for ninth overall. Lowe’s scores improved with each round after posting a 3-over 75 in round one on Monday. He followed with back-to-back rounds under par (70, 69). During Tuesday’s round, Lowe jumped 13 places in the standings thanks to six birdies, three of which came on the last four holes.
Ditcher finished tied for third in field of 55 players at Colonial Golf Classic, shooting a career-best 72 in opening round to lead the field after opening 18 holes. The Randolph, N.Y., product also took his career-best individual finish, leading the Bonnies by tying for third, and helping team to second place finish overall. He finished the 36-hole event with a 150 (72-78) and carded five birdies on the week.
