WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The University of Richmond men's golf team did exactly what it needed to do during Monday's opening round of the NCAA Regionals at the Kampen Course; put itself into position to make a run at a top five spot. The Spiders fired a +9, 297 and rest in sole possession of 10th place, just five strokes outside the top five.

The top five teams and next two individuals not associated with those teams will all advance to the National Championships later this month.

Matthew Lowe was the low man for the Spiders on Monday, carding an even par, 72 after going bogey free on holes 1-9, the final nine he played. He went two-under during that stretch and is currently tied for 14th overall on the individual leaderboard.

Reigning Atlantic 10 Performer of the Year Keegan Hoff, playing out of the top spot was two-over for the round with two birdies to his credit while A-10 Rookie of the Year Zack Justice continued his steady play by carding a +3, 75. Mark Reilly was the fourth score the Spiders counted. After taking a triple on his 11th hole, Reilly closed with three birdies, three pars and a bogey to play the back at just +1 and finish +4 for the day.

UNLV has set the early pace by shooting -1, 287 as the lone team under par. Illinois and New Mexico both checked in at even par, South Carolina is +3 while top-seeded Florida, Auburn and host Purdue are all +4. The Spiders will tee off on the back nine once again on Tuesday morning.

Spider Round Two Tee Times:
8:55 – Andrew Sciarretta
9:06 – Mark Reilly
9:17 – Zack Justice
9:28 – Keegan Hoff
9:39 – Matthew Lowe
