Bonnies' Mobley Named A-10 Player of the Week
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – St. Bonaventure senior Matt Mobley was selected as the Atlantic 10 Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, while Davidson freshman Kellan Grady was chosen as the league’s Rookie of the Week. The awards, announced Monday, are for games played Jan. 29 – Feb 4.
Mobley averaged 27 points per game in a pair of road wins for the Bonnies that helped push the Brown and White’s winning streak to four games. The guard from Worcester, Mass., began the week with a 35-point, 11-rebound double-double at George Mason. He shot 11-of-15 (.733) from the field and 7-for-9 (.778) from 3-point range against the Patriots. He followed that performance with 19 points and three rebounds at Duquesne. He was 7-of-14 (.500) from the field versus the Dukes. Mobley did not miss a free throw all week, posting a perfect 9-for-9 at the charity stripe.
Grady helped Davidson to a pair of wins by averaging 24.5 points and 7.0 rebounds per game, while shooting 61.8 percent (21-of-34) overall and 42.9 percent (6-for-14) from 3-point range. The guard began his week with a game-high 26 points on 11-of-18 shooting, including four treys in Davidson's win over La Salle. In addition he grabbed six rebounds, three assists and two steals against the Explorers. He capped his week with his seventh 20-point effort of the season, scoring 23 points on 10-of-16 from the floor in the Wildcats' victory over George Washington. The Boston, Mass., native also grabbed eight rebounds, including four at the offensive end.

Josh Cunningham was hot from the field again, hitting 10-of-13 (.769) to haul in a 27-point, 11-rebound double-double at Massachusetts … UD freshman Jalen Crutcher tallied 15 points on 6-of-11 (.545) shooting and added eight assists versus the Minutemen … Otis Livingston II had another monster week, averaging 26 points and 3.5 rebounds, including scoring 30 versus St. Bonaventure, sinking 5-of-9 (.556) from three versus the Bonnies, while also dishing out six assists in a win over Richmond … B.J. Johnson scored 25 points, had seven rebounds and three blocks against rival Saint Joseph’s, which followed a 20-point, five-rebound performance at Davidson ... La Salle freshman Jamir Moultrie had a career week, averaging 18.5 points per game on 11-of-17 (.647) shooting from 3-point range … Luwane Pipkins posted 27.5 points per game and 6.0 assists per game in a split week for UMass, tallying 27 points and four assists versus Rhode island and 28 points and eight assists against Dayton … Minutemen freshman Carl Pierre was 8-of-16 (.500) from 3-point range, tallying 16 points against URI and 15 versus Dayton … Jared Terrell led Rhody to its 13th and 14th straight wins, scoring 21 points with four rebounds and two assists at UMass, where he hit 8-of-12 (.667) from the field, followed by 16 points, four rebounds and three assists at VCU Friday … Rhode Island freshman Fatts Russell scored 11 points on 3-of-5 (.600) shooting from 3-point range in the Rams’ win at VCU … Richmond Nick Sherod had a 32-point, 11-rebound double-double in the Spiders’ loss against George Mason … Shavar Newkirk became the 55th Saint Joseph’s player to surpass 1,000 points for his career against La Salle, where he finished with a career-high 30 points, 20 in the second half, and a career-high five 3-pointers in the game … Jalen Johnson averaged 12.5 points per game in two wins for Saint Louis, including 14 points and a 6-for-6 performance at the line versus Fordham … SLU freshman Hassan French tallied an 11-point, 11-rebound double-double against Fordham, and shot 9-of-13 (.692) from the field for the week.
