NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference announced the 2013 Division I Softball All-Star teams today, as four A-10 Student Athletes, Fordham’s Jamie LaBovick (First Team/First Baseman), Dana Parks of Saint Joseph’s (Second Team/Outfielder) and Temple’s Stephanie Pasquale (First Team/Catcher and Player of the Year) and Sarah Prezioso (First team/Shortstop) were named to the squad for the 2013 season. The teams and major award winners were selected based on a vote of ECAC Division I coaches, or their respective designee

LaBovick was named First Team NFCA All-Mid-Atlantic Region, First Team All-Atlantic 10 and also earned a spot on the Atlantic 10 All-Tournament Team, leading Fordham to its second Atlantic 10 Championship in the last three years, and third NCAA appearance in the last four seasons. She also broke the Fordham single-season hit record with 87 and batted .408 on the season, good enough for second in the single-season record book and 48th nationally. During the season, she recorded a 28-game hit streak, the longest such tear in Atlantic 10 or Fordham history, and was one of the toughest players in the nation to strike out, ranking seventh in that category, having struck out just six times in 213 at bats. She also led the Rams with 16 doubles to go with 52 runs scored, six home runs, and 27 RBI.

Starting all 48 games in centerfield, Parks earned Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Team honors as she led SJU with a .385 batting average and set the single-season record for stolen bases with 26. Leading the Hawks to the A-10 Championship game for the second time in three years, she collected five hits in the final day of the tournament as she was named to the All-Tournament Team. Boasting a 1.000 fielding percentage, Parks additionally posted a team-high 32 runs scored and 65 hits, while driving in 12 runs.

Pasquale was a First Team All-Conference and All-Championship selection, leading her squad and the league with a .465 overall average, good for fifth in the nation, and hit .552 in conference play. The catcher also set a Temple and Atlantic 10 single-season record for RBI this year with 80. Her record-setting campaign also includes TU single-season marks for doubles (21), batting average (.465) and home runs (15).

Prezioso finished second on Temple, and in the league, in batting with a .436 average. The shortstop also established a school and conference record, scoring 65 runs, which was good for seventh in the country with a 1.12 average per game. Prezioso’s batting average was the 25th-best in the country and she finished in the top-50 of five other categories. The junior also set school single-season records for stolen bases (32) and homeruns (15).
