ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis junior forward Robert Kristo and junior defender Anthony Manning have been named to the Preseason Best XI third team.

Last season, Kristo was a Hermann Trophy semifinalist and a National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) third-team All-American after scoring 11 goals and adding five assists to lead the Billikens with 27 points. He enters his junior campaign with 41 career points (17G, 7A).

Earlier this summer, Kristo was named to the preseason All-America team by and was tabbed one of the top 10 forwards in the nation by

Manning, who earned second-team All-Conference honors after appearing in all 21 games last season on the Billikens’ back line, played every minute of the Billikens’ nine Atlantic 10 Conference matches. SLU tied for first in the A-10 with nine shutouts and finished second in fewest goals allowed (0.86 per game).

Manning was recognized by earlier this summer as one of the top 10 defenders in the nation.

Kristo and Manning helped the Billikens to the Atlantic 10 Conference tournament championship and an NCAA Tournament appearance last season. SLU finished the 2012 campaign with a 16-5 record, the most wins for Saint Louis since the 2001 squad won 18 games.

SLU, ranked No. 10 in one preseason poll, opens the 2013 campaign Friday, Aug. 30, against Oral Roberts. Game time at Robert R. Hermann Stadium is scheduled for 7 p.m. The Bills also play nationally ranked Akron in an exhibition match Saturday, Aug. 24, at Hermann Stadium in a 7 p.m. kick.
