AMHERST, Mass. - The Massachusetts Minutewomen (17-2) scored nine goals in the second half to defeat Duquesne, 14-7, clinching their fifth consecutive Atlantic 10 Lacrosse Championship, and sixth overall.

UMass junior Sam Rush was named Most Outstanding Player of the 2013 Championship, netting six goals on seven shots in the contest. Rush broke the A-10 single season record for goals (60), passing fellow Minutewoman, Katie Ferris who scored 59 goals last season.

Massachusetts got on the board first with a goal from senior Cori Murray, but was quickly answered by two quick goals from the Dukes' Clare Hurley and Meredith Dunn.

At the 22 minute mark, Murray tied the game up at two with her second goal of the game. Duquesne took their last lead of the game, 4-2, on goals from Amanda Kidder and Clare Hurley.

The Minutewomen then rattled off nine unanswered goals spanning both halves, including four consecutive goals from Sam Rush, to take control of the game with an 11-4 lead.

Duquesne's offense was held scoreless until the 8:44 mark in the second half when Morgan Matz and Meredith Dunn each found the back of the net, cutting the deficit to 11-6.

Massachusetts added three late insurance goals to win their 14th consecutive game and seal their sixth overall A-10 Lacrosse Championship, a league record.

UMass goalkeeper Jamie Schiloski recorded nine saves in her seventh win this season, while Kristen Gregory made seven saves in goal for the Dukes.

With the win, the Minutewomen earn the A-10's automatic bid to the NCAA Championship, which begins at campus sites on May 10. The selection show for this year's Championship will be held Sunday, May 5.

2013 All-Championship Team

Rush was joined on the 2013 All Championship Team by Minutewomen Melissa Carelli, Cori Murray, Jamie Schiloski, and Kelsey Sheridan. The Dukes were represented by Kristen Gregory, Clare Hurley, Meredith Dunn, and Haley Marafioti. Temple's Stephany Parcell and Rachel Schwaab, along with George Washington's Jordy Bathras were also honored on the team.
