NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Seven A-10 Student-Athletes are competing this week at the USA Track & Field Championships in Des Moines, Iowa on the campus of Drake University. The 2013 Championships will serve as the selection event for coveted spots to represent Team USA at the IAAF World Championships August 10 - August 18 in Moscow, Russia and the Pan American Championships August 23-25 in Medellin, Columbia.

Competing in the Senior Championships is VCU sophomore Kiara Porter. Porter's qualifying time of 52.33 at the NCAA East Regional qualified her for the national championship meet and is currently one of just 21 declared athletes in the 400-meter on the women's side. One of those 21 athletes is the reigning Olympic Gold Medalist Sanya Richards-Ross.

Representing the A-10 in the Junior Championships is Alvonna Blakney (Charlotte), Morgan Richards (Charlotte), Zachary Campo (Rhode Island), Mary Allen (Richmond), Jade Gregory (Richmond), and Dannah Hayward (Saint Joseph's).
