NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – For the fourth consecutive season, the La Salle Explorers have been predicted to take home the Atlantic 10 Cross Country title in voting conducted by the league’s 13 head coaches, the league announced on Monday.
The Explorers look to win their second A-10 Championship in the last three years after previously doing so back in 2011. Coming off a third place finish in last year’s championship, the Explorers are led by returning seniors Vince Perozze, Jimmy Murphy and Nico Greco.
Finishing second to La Salle in the poll, was 2012 runner-up Saint Joseph’s. The Hawks have set their sights on their first conference championship since 2009 after posting consecutive top three championship finishes. Junior Logan Mohn, one of two returning 2012 top 10 finishers, returns to lead the Hawks after posting a seventh-place overall finish last year.
Duquesne and A-10 newcomer George Mason tied for third in the poll and were joined by Dayton to round out the top five, followed by Richmond, Fordham, Massachusetts, Saint Louis, VCU, George Washington, Rhode Island and St. Bonaventure.
The 2013 A-10 Men’s Cross Country Championship will be hosted by the University of Richmond at Pole Green Park in Richmond, Va. on Nov. 2.
