Full Poll

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Defending Atlantic 10 Field Hockey Champion Massachusetts has been ranked #14 in the nation in the Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Preseason Poll.

UMass, which was picked atop the recent A-10 Preseason Coaches Poll, returns a pair of All-A-10 members from a season ago, including league’s 2012 Defensive Player of the Year and First-Team selection Lauren Allymohamed.  Goalkeeper Sam Carlino is back in the mix for UMass after making 100 stops in her freshman campaign in 2012.  For her efforts Carlino was an All Atlantic 10 Second-Team choice as wellas an All-Rookie team member.

The Minutewomen will open their 2013 this weekend at the Maine Invitational. UMass will take on the host Black Bears on Friday and will face Michigan on Saturday. Both matches are slated for 1:00 p.m.
