NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – George Mason’s John Holt and Bethany Sachtleben were named the Atlantic 10 Conference’s Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Performers of the Week, respectively, the league announced on Monday. Also honored for their performances were Blake Croteau of Massachusetts, who was named the Men’s Rookie of the Week, and Mason’s Meghan Blackstone, who was named the Women’s Rookie of the Week. Awards were based off performances from September 23-29.
Holt, a senior from Williamsburg, Va., finished 41st overall at the Virginia Invitational (8k) hosted by the University of Virginia with a time of 24:42.1. Holt was the top finisher for the Patriots who placed 11th overall in team points at the meet.
Sachtleben, a junior from Manassas, Va., was the top finisher for the Patriots at the Virginia Invitational (5k) with a time of 17:48.4 and a 27th overall finish. Sachtleben led the Patriots to a 14th place overall.
Croteau scored for the Minutemen for a second straight meet as the team's No. 3 finisher at the Coast to Coast Battle in Beantown (8k). The Westfield, Mass., native finished 51st overall out of 140 runners with a time of 25:41.0.
Blackstone, a freshman from Bristow, Va., was the top freshman finisher for the Patriots at the Virginia Invitational (5k) with a time of 19:37.9.
