RICHMOND, Va. – The Atlantic 10 Conference held its first in person Women’s Basketball Media Day in over six years on Tuesday at the Richmond Coliseum, home of the 2014 A-10 Championship.
The event started with lunch with A-10 coaches, administrators, media and a number of invited guests. Greg Burton of ESPN Radio 950 served as Master of Ceremonies for a program that featured Atlantic 10 Commissioner Bernadette V. McGlade, Richmond Mayor Dwight Jones and SMG Executive Vice President Maureen Ginty. The A-10 also showed videos unveiling the preseason poll, the preseason all-conference first-team and a highlight sizzle from last season.
Following lunch, the A-10 coaches gathered with media members that included CBS Sports Network, the Associated Press, the Richmond Times-Dispatch and Lady Swish Blog. Richmond’s three television affiliates were also in attendance.
In addition, the league provided a live component during the day. Longtime Richmond sports personality Robert Fish interviewed each of the coaches, while fielding questions from A-10 fans on Twitter and Facebook.
Media Day resulted in several stories concerning the A-10, including’s the T-D’s Paul Woody on why the coaches got and deserved the red carpet treatment. WTVR and WWBT each filed stories on the day.
