DAYTON, Ohio –  Top-seeded Saint Louis scored a pair of goals in the first five minutes of the second-half en route to a 2-0 victory over eighth-seeded Massachusetts in the quarterfinals of the 2013 Atlantic 10 Men’s Soccer Championship.

SLU improves to 13-4-2 overall and advances to tomorrow’s semifinal where it will face the winner of No. 4 La Salle and No. 5 Dayton.   Massachusetts finishes its season at 4-14-1.

After a scoreless first half that saw the Bills outshoot UMass 7-4, Alex Sweetin served a free kick into the box where it found Julian Gieseke who headed the ball home and gave SLU the 1-0 lead in the 47th minute.

Saint Louis struck again 2:47 later when Sweetin and David Graydon set up Robert Kristo to double the SLU advantage.

The Billikens out shot UMass 14-9 and held a 9-1 advantage in corner kicks.  Nick Ruiz made seven saves for the Minutemen, while Nick Shackelford turned away a pair of shots for SLU.
