NSCAA Release

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Fourteen Atlantic 10 Women’s Soccer teams have earned the NSCAA Team Academic Award for the 2012-13 academic school year, the organization announced Thursday.

Dayton, Fordham, George Washington, La Salle, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Richmond, St. Bonaventure, Saint Louis and VCU all earned a team GPA of 3.0 or higher to earn the distinction.

The NSCAA annually recognizes college and high school soccer programs that have excelled in the classroom, in addition to their work on the field. A total of 593 women’s teams posted a grade point average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the NSCAA Team Academic Award for the 2012-13 academic year.

Former A-10 members Butler, Charlotte, Temple and Xavier also earned the team academic award, playing in the Atlantic 10 in the 2012-13 academic year.

Founded in 1941 and based in Kansas City, Kan., the National Soccer Coaches Association of America has grown into the world’s largest soccer coaches’ organization that serves members at every level of the game.

The NSCAA works every day to inspire coaches and ignite their passion for the game so they pass it on to players and others in the soccer community. We fulfill that goal through three core values: “Learn. Participate. Belong.”
