Tapio, Latt Earn A-10 Weekly Women's Hoops Honors

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Fordham’s Emily Tapio has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played Nov. 17-24. Davidson earned its first women’s basketball weekly honor as members of the A-10 as Mackenzie Latt was tabbed as the Rookie of the Week.

A native of Brewster, N.Y., Tapio averaged 16.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.5 steals and 1.0 block per game while shooting 55.6 percent (14-of-24) from the field in a pair of home victories last week over Mount St. Mary's (61-37) and Hofstra (60-46). Tapio tied her career high in scoring versus Mount St. Mary's with 19 points and just missed a double-double with a game-high nine rebounds. She knocked down a career-high nine field goals (on 15 attempts), tallied two blocks and two assists and tied a career high in steals with three. She scored six of the first eight points for the Rams, who started the contest with an 8-0 lead and never looked back. In the victory over Hofstra, Tapio followed up with a terrific all-around game with 14 points, a game-high eight rebounds, five assists and two steals. She scored eight of the Rams' points in a decisive 20-4 run (spanning both halves), which gave Fordham a 17-point second half lead. Tapio leads the Rams with 14.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.25 blocks per game while shooting a team-best 55.6 percent (25-of-45) from the field.

Latt had an outstanding three-game week in leading Davidson to a 2-1 record. The freshman paced the team for the week by averaging 17 points, nine rebounds, dishing out seven assists and blocking five shots. Latt also registered a pair of double-doubles in wins vs. Gardner-Webb and Mount St. Mary's to give her three in the first four games of her career. The forward shot an impressive 61.8 percent from the floor, going 21-of-34  She started the week off with 16 points on 6-of-10 shooting vs. Southern Cal. Latt then led Davidson to a 68-67 road win at Gardner-Webb with season highs of 21 points and 15 rebounds, while scoring the tying and go-ahead buckets. The Kalamazoo, Mich., native had the best shooting night of any Wildcat this season, going 10-for-14 from the floor. The freshman capped the solid week off with another double-double, 14 points and 10 rebounds, in Sunday's win vs. Mount St. Mary's.

Davidson’s Hannah Early averaged 15.3 points and 9.3 rebounds a game, and recorded a pair of double-doubles last week … Andrea Hoover led Dayton over the weekend with 19.0 ppg. and 11 rpg. as the Flyers went 1-1 at the Iowa Hawkeye Challenge. In UD's 78-47 win over UT Martin Friday, Hoover scored 14 points to go with six rebounds and two assists in only 22 minutes of action … Sandra Ngoie of George Mason averaged 18.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game as she helped the Patriots take wins over Delaware State and College of Charleston … Kelli Prange averaged 12.0 points and 7.3 rebounds to lead George Washington to a 2-1 week … Ebony Wells of La Salle poured in 16 points and grabbed 15 rebounds for her first career double-double in her third game as an Explorer as she helped the team earn its first win of the season, 65-64 over Howard … Helping Saint Joseph’s  to a 1-1 mark on the week, senior Natasha Cloud averaged 19.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.0 blocks per game … Charise Wilson had 23 points, six rebounds, four assists and four steals in Rhode Island's lone game of the week, a 75-66 win at UMass Lowell … Denisha Womack of Saint Louis was the Billikens' leading scorer in both games, and her 16 points vs. Southeast Missouri State were a game high ... VCU’s Ashley Pegram scored 44 points for the Rams last week (3 games) off the bench. She scored a career-best 25 points at Ohio State on Sunday afternoon.
