NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Dayton’s Ally Malott has been named the Atlantic 10 Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, while Rhode Island’s Charise Wilson claimed her second straight Rookie of the Week honor. The awards were given for games played Dec. 1-7.
A native of Middletown, Ohio, Malott averaged 19.0 points/game and 9.0 rebounds/game over two wins during the week for Dayton. Malott was the team's leading scorer with 18 points to go with 11 rebounds for her first double-double of the season at Wright State (W, 79-76) on Wednesday. She then followed that with a 20-point, seven-rebound performance at home against Purdue (W, 63-61). For the week, she went 14-of-27 from the field for a .519 field-goal percentage and was nearly perfect at the line, sinking seven of eight attempts.
Wilson led Rhode Island to a 3-0 week, averaging 17.0 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.0 steals per game. In a victory over Providence on Sunday, Wilson scored 14 of her game-high 22 points in the second half to spark the Rams to their fifth straight win. Wilson shot .486 from the floor (18-for-37) and was even better beyond the arc, making 5-of-10 from 3-point range. She just missed her first career double-double Sunday, finishing with 22 points and nine rebounds. The West Babylon, N.Y., native has scored 10 or more points in eight straight games.

Dayton’s Jenna Burdette went 4-for-8 from the field, scoring a career-high-tying 10 points to go with a career-high six assists, three rebounds, one steal and one block at Wright State … Duquesne’s April Robinson led the Dukes to a pair of wins over Kent State and Pittsburgh with 11 points and 7 assists vs. KSU then a double-double of 19 points and tied career-high with 11 assists vs. Pitt … Fordham’s Emily Tapio averaged 19.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists for the Rams this week … Lauren Chase matched her career high with 22 points and added six assists and two steals to lead George Washington to a 73-64 win over Fresno State, while Kelli Prange finished a rebound shy of her second double-double of the season with 13 points and nine rebounds in GW’s win … Alicia Cropper of La Salle averaged 21.0 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 2.5 apg and 2.0 spg in a 2-0 week for the Explorers … Kim Pierre-Louis averaged 20.5 points and 10 rebounds per game in UMass’ 75-62 loss to Harvard and 71-61 win over American. Her teammate Cierra Dillard averaged 11.5 points per game this week … Saint Joseph's rookie Chelsea Woods had a season-best 12 points and four rebounds against Lehigh and scored a key basket in a win against Villanova … Saint Louis’ Sadie Stipanovich scored a career- and game-high 20 points (8-of-13 FG) and tied for game-high honors with seven rebounds in a win at Tulsa then followed with 11 points (4-of-8 FG) and four rebounds to help SLU defeat Missouri-St. Louis. Her teammate Jenny Vliet scored a career-high 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting (2-of-5 beyond the arc) and added three assists in a road win against Tulsa.
