Graham, Sengfelder Earn Weekly A-10 Awards

NEWPORT NEWS, Va.— VCU senior Treveon Graham was named the Atlantic 10 Conference  Player of Monday. Fordham freshman Chris Sengfelder also earned Rookie of the Week honors Monday. The awards were for games played Dec. 8-14.

Graham tallied his 12th career double-double with 21 points, 11 rebounds and three assists in VCU’s double-overtime win over No. 23 Northern Iowa. Graham, a guard, shot 6-of-13 from the field and a perfect 6-of-6 from the line. Over the past five games, the Temple Hills, Md., native has averaged 20.4 points per game, 48.6 percent from the field, and 47.1 percent from 3-point range.

Sengfelder, a forward from Leverkusen, Germany, recorded his first career double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds in an overtime win against Monmouth. He added 11 points and three rebounds versus No. 24 St. John’s. For the week, he shot 57.1 percent from the field (12-of-21), averaged 16 points per game and seven rebounds per game.

A-10 Weekly Honor Roll

Davidson’s Jack Gibbs had a stellar week, averaging 19.5 points and 5.5 assists in a pair of wins for the Wildcats, including shooting a perfect 13-for-13 at the line … Gibbs freshman teammate, Peyton Aldridge, scored 14 points and had six rebounds on the road in Davidson’s win at Montana … Jordan Sibert averaged 14.5 points, and pulled down 5.0 rebounds per game, including eight boards in the win over Bowling Green … Kevin Larsen had a 15-point, 13-rebounds double-double at Penn State and also had 18 points and eight boards in the win over DePaul … La Salle’s Cleon Roberts scored 15 points, including swishing three 3-pointers in the win over Drexel … Explorer freshman Amar Stukes added eight points and four rebounds to Roberts’ effort … Maxie Esho tallied 20 points on 7-of-9 shooting and grabbed nine rebounds to lead UMass past Canisius … Rhode Island’s E.C. Matthews recorded 27 points in the rivalry game with Providence and added 14 points in the win over Delaware State to average 20.5 points per game last week … Richmond’s ShawnDre’ Jones scored 11 points, and had two assists and two steals versus Howard … Marcus Posley of St. Bonaventure had his seventh game double-digit scoring game this year with 17 points versus Pitt … DeAndre’ Bembry tallied 21 points on 8-of-11 shooting and recorded two blocks in Saint Joseph’s win over Loyola (Md.) … Saint Louis freshman Milik Yarbrough scored 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds against South Dakota State.
