Sullivan, Price, Sengfelder Win Weekly Awards

NEWPORT NEWS, Va.— Davidson junior Brian Sullivan and La Salle sophomore Jordan Price were named Atlantic 10 Conference Co-Players of the Week Monday. Fordham freshman Chris Sengfelder was also named the league’s Rookie of the Week, his second consecutive Rookie of the Week award and fourth overall this year. The awards were for games played Feb. 9 – 15.

Sullivan finished the week averaging 23.5 points, 6.0 assists and 2.5 rebounds while shooting just under 40 percent from 3-point range while shooting 18-of-23 at the line. In addition to leading the Wildcats to a pair of wins, Sullivan became the third transfer and 47th player in a Davidson uniform to score his 1,000th career point. The milestone came in a 19-point, seven-assist performance against George Mason. A shooting guard from Upper Arlington, Ohio, he capped his week with a game/season-high 28 points, including four 3-pointers in the Wildcats' 77-69 win at La Salle. He also finished 12-of-17 at the free-throw line and handed five assists in 39 minutes.

Price averaged 28.0 points and 10.5 rebounds in two games for the Explorers. He had 34 points, 18 rebounds and five assists in a double-overtime win at No. 20/22 VCU on Wednesday, including 12 points in overtime alone. A guard from Decatur, Ga., he was named ESPN SportsCenter Star of the Night by Jay Harris. His stat line was just fourth 34-18-5 line in Division I since 1996-97 and the first in program history. It also was his first double-double and it set career-highs in points and rebounds. Price also had 22 points in a loss to Davidson, shooting 19-of-43 (.442) from the field and 11-for-1212 (.917) from the line.

Sengfelder averaged 13.5 points and 9.5 rebounds in a split week for Fordham to claim his second consecutive Rookie of the Week award. A forward from Leverkusen, Germany, he recorded his second double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds at Richmond. He was 4-of-10 (.400) from the field and a perfect 4-for-4 from the line. He then helped lead Fordham to a home win over Saint Joseph’s, scoring 15 points and grabbing nine rebounds with two assists and two blocks. He was 6-for-9 (.667), including 3-of-4 (.750) from 3-point range versus the hawks. He shot over 50 percent from the field (10-19) for the week.

Jordan Sibert scored 24 points, grabbed seven steals and was 9-of-11 from the line  in Dayton’s win over St. Bonaventure … Dayton freshman Darrell Davis hit 6-of-10 from 3-point range last week, sinking four triples at Saint Louis and another two against St. Bonaventure … Micah Mason scored a career-high 24 points for Duquesne in a win over George Washington and followed that with 20 points at Massachusetts while averaging 4.5 assists for the week … Duquesne freshman Jordan Robinson averaged eight points and 4.5 rebounds for the Dukes last week … Fordham’s Mandell Thomas averaged 18.5 points, including tallying 20 points and six assists in the Rams win over Saint Joseph’s … Shevon Thompson had back-to-back double-doubles for George Mason, with 14 points and 13 rebounds at Davidson and 15 points and 14 rebounds against Richmond … Mason freshman Isaiah Jackson averaged 11.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game in a split week for the Patriots … Trey Davis scored 26 points, hitting 6-of-9 (.667) from the field and a perfect 10-for-10 at the line in UMass’ win over Duquesne … Rhode Island’s Hassan Martin scored 18 points in the win over Saint Louis while averaging 5.5 rebounds and 3.0 in a split week for Rhode Island … Rhody freshman Jarvis Garrett scored 14 points at Saint Joseph’s and dished out five assists in the win over Saint Louis … Richmond’s ShawnDre' Jones scored 18 second-half points to lead a comeback win over Fordham and added 10 points at George Mason … DeAndre’ Bembry averaged 18.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.5 steals in 1-1 week for Saint Joseph’s and has scored double figures in 21 consecutive games … Saint Louis freshman Miles Reynolds scored 21 points, shooting 4-of-5 (.800) from the field and 13-for-15 (.867) at the line … VCU’s JeQuan Lewis scored 26 points and dished out three assists against La Salle, hitting 7-of-16 (.438) from the field and 10-for-11 (.909) at the line.
