NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Davidson junior Anne Federico and La Salle sophomore Kendall Kreider were named the Atlantic 10 Conference Field Hockey Co-Players of the Week, while Brea Seabrook of Saint Francis earned Rookie of the Week honors. The awards, announced Monday, are for matches played Oct. 12–18.
Federico, scored the game-winning goal less than five minutes into the first overtime session as Davidson earned a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Atlantic 10 rival Richmond on Friday at Belk Turf Field. With the win, Davidson improved to 5-1 in the A-10 and moved into first place in the conference standings. The Towson, Md., native tallied three shots against Richmond.
Kreider scored three goals, including two game-winners, in two La Salle wins over the weekend. She had two goals in a 3-1 win over St. Joseph’s on Friday that put the Explorers in a tie for third. The forward from Annville, Pa., also recorded the first goal of the game in a 3-0 win over Towson on Sunday. Kreider currently leads team with four goals and 11 points on the season.
Seabrook, the freshman from Wilkes-Barre, Pa., scored a pair of goals, and recorded the game-winner against Saint Louis in the Flash's 2-0 week against Lock Haven and SLU. On Friday, Seabrook took a rebound and went top shelf to give SFU a 2-0 lead. On Sunday, in a similar fashion, the freshman took a rebound and roofed it to give Saint Francis a 1-0 lead.
