Saint Joseph's Men Predicted to Take Home A-10 Cross Country Title

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. —  In a poll conducted amongst the league’s 14 head coaches, the Saint Joseph’s Men’s Cross Country team has been selected as the favorite to take home the 2016 Atlantic 10 Conference Championship, the A-10 announced on Tuesday.

Saint Joseph’s, the defending A-10 champion, returns three top-30 performers from last year’s championship in seniors Jimmy Daniels (5th place) and Dan Savage (22nd place) and junior David Dorsey (30th place). 

Davidson was selected to finish second in the preseason poll and is coming of a third-place finish at the 2015 championship. The Wildcats are led by senior Will Brewster, who is coming off a ninth-place finish in 2015.

La Salle, Massachusetts and George Mason rounded out the top five, and were followed by Saint Louis, Duquesne, Fordham, Dayton, Richmond, George Washington, Rhode Island, VCU and St. Bonaventure.

The 2016 Atlantic 10 Men’s Cross Country Championship will be hosted by the University of Richmond at Pole Green Park in Richmond, Va. on October 29. The Cross Country regular season begins on Thursday, September 1.
