Loebe, Hofs, Nuhu and Dyck Named A-10 Men?s Soccer Weekly Award Winners

Fordham junior Janos Loebe was named the Atlantic 10 Conference Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, while sophomore teammate Rashid Nuhu and George Washington sophmore Thor Arne Hofs earned Co-Defensive Player of the Week Honors. St. Bonaventure freshman Jacob Dyck was also selected as the league’s Rookie of the Week. The awards, announced Monday, are for games played Sept. 12-18.

After being held off the score-sheet for the first six games of the season, Loebe, the reigning Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year, got on the board this week against Stetson, where he had a goal and an assist in a 2-1 win over Stetson on Saturday.  His assist was on the game-winning goal by his brother Jannik, marking the second time that both brothers have scored in the same game.

Nuhu was 1-0-1 on the week in goal for Fordham, posting seven saves and a shutout in two games. The goalkeeper from Accra, Ghana, recorded his first shutout of the season (seventh of his career) on Wednesday at Manhattan, making four saves.  He added three stops in a 2-1 win at Stetson on Saturday.

Hofs, goalkeeper from Fehmarn, Germany, played all 209+ minutes in goal for the Colonials this week as George Washington played No. 12 Wake Forest to double overtime 0-0 draw on Tuesday evening before the Colonials were edged, 2-1, in overtime by UMBC on Saturday. He tallied 13 saves over the weekend, seven against Wake Forest and six against UMBC.

Dyck, forward from Mississauga, Ontario, scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0 win over Niagara Sunday afternoon to give the Bonnies their first win of the season. Dyck scored on a one-on-one break away.
