Dayton Women Selected as A-10 Cross Country Favorites
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — In a poll conducted amongst the league’s 14 head coaches, the Dayton Women’s Cross Country team has been predicted to win the 2018 Atlantic 10 Conference Championship, the A-10 announced on Wednesday.
Dayton, looking for its second consecutive women’s title, received 186 points to top the poll. The Flyers were followed closely by last year’s championship runner-up Richmond, who finished with 185 points.
Davidson was selected to finish third in the preseason poll with a total of 166 points and is followed by Duquesne (154) and George Washington (121) to round out the top five.
Massachusetts was voted sixth in the poll with 114 points followed by Fordham in seventh with 107 points. La Salle recorded 105 points for eighth place and George Mason (88) along with Saint Joseph’s (80), were ninth and tenth, respectively. Saint Louis, Rhode Island, VCU and St. Bonaventure rounded out the poll.
The 2018 Atlantic 10 Women’s Cross Country Championship will be hosted by the University of Richmond at Pole Green Park in Mechanicsville, Va. on October 27. The Cross Country regular season begins this weekend.
