Dayton's Lauren Cannatelli Named A-10 Women's Basketball Player of the Week

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Dayton’s Lauren Cannatelli was named the Atlantic 10 Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week while Saint Louis’ Ciaja Harbison earned Rookie of the Week honors. The awards were for games played Dec. 17-23.

 

Cannatelli recorded a pair of 24-point games at the West Palm Beach Invitational this past week against undefeated Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech. The senior guard from Cincinnati, Ohio, started the tournament with 24 points, four rebounds, and went a perfect 12-of-12 from the free throw line against the Hokies. She followed that up with 24 points, three steals, five rebounds, and five assists while going 14-of-16 from the free throw line in the double-digit win over the Yellow Jackets. Cannatelli shot 92.9 percent from the free throw line over the two game stretch as the Flyers finished up non-conference play. 

 

Harbison, a freshman from Louisville, Ky., led the Billikens with 20 points on 5-of-9 shooting from the field and tied her career-high with a game-high seven assists at Illinois State. The honor marks Harbison’s fourth Rookie of the Week Award of the season. 

 

Atlantic 10 Weekly Honor Roll

 

Davidson’s Kianna Speight led the Wildcats to a 1-1 week after averaging 18.0 points and going 12-of-25 from beyond the arc over the two games. Davidson freshman Cassidy Gould had 10 points, six rebounds and three assists in the win over Presbyterian…Duquesne’s Kadri-Ann Lass scored a game-high 21 points in a narrow loss to Liberty on Saturday. Over two games, she averaged 16.5 points and 6.0 rebounds on 15-of-25 (.600) shooting…Fordham’s Bre Cavanaugh recorded a career-high 12 rebounds to go with 15 points in a win over Iona. Fordham freshman Kaitlyn Downey matched her season-high with 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting against Iona.
