NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Duquesne and George Washington women’s swimming and diving teams have tied for first place in a poll conducted of the league’s 11 head coaches, predicting who will take home the 2020 Atlantic 10 Conference Women’s Swimming and Diving Championship. The league announced the poll Thursday.
Duquesne received six first-place votes and a total of 112 points after earning their second consecutive A-10 Women’s Swimming and Diving title at last year’s event. Returning for Duquesne is the 2019 A-10 Most Outstanding Rookie, Audrey Steen and the 2019 A-10 Coach of the Year, Dave Sheets.
George Washington, last year’s runner-up, received four first-place votes and a total of 112 points. Returning for George Washington is sophomore Andrea Moussier, who had a first-place finish in the 1,650-yard freestyle at the 2019 A-10 Championship.
Fordham, last year’s third-place finisher, is predicted to finish third in this year’s poll with one first-place vote and 100 total points. Richmond, with 95 points was selected fourth. Massachusetts (75) and George Mason (57) were selected fifth and sixth respectively, followed by La Salle, Davidson, St. Bonaventure, Saint Louis, and Rhode Island.
The 2020 A-10 Women’s Swimming and Diving Championship will be held February 19-22 at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
