Cordia and Peterson Share #A10VB Offensive Player of the Week Honors; Sneed Tabbed Defensive Player of the Week

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Saint Louis junior Kennedy Cordia and Dayton sophomore Jamie Peterson shared the Atlantic 10 Conference Volleyball Player of the Week honors while VCU’s Jasmin Sneed was named Defensive Player of the Week. La Salle freshman Rachel Hess was awarded Rookie of the Week. The awards are for matches played Oct. 7-13.

 

Cordia recorded 67 total assists (11.17 per set) in a 2-0 double-sweep weekend for the Billikens, leading all players in both games. The setter from St. Louis also tallied 25 digs (4.17 per set), two service aces and nine kills hitting .750. She led the team in assists, attack percentage and digs over the weekend.

 

Peterson helped lead Dayton to two straight-set sweeps in two days over the weekend with 6.50 kills per set, 3.17 Digs per set and 7.50 points per set. In Friday's 3-0 win at George Mason, she recorded her eighth double-double of the season with 16 kills and 12 digs. Peterson followed that up with 23 kills, seven digs, two aces and two blocks in a 3-0 win at George Washington on Saturday.

 

Sneed, a senior middle blocker from San Antonio, Texas, averaged 1.67 blocks per set as VCU swept Rhode Island and Fordham. Sneed hit an impressive .750 with six kills and no errors Sunday in a win over Fordham.

 

Hess recorded a team-high 51 digs over two games this weekend for the Explorers. The rookie libero from Breinigsville, Pa., led the team in digs in an epic comeback over Villanova, tallying a game-high 26 and adding two aces. In the game against Duquesne, Hess went for a game-high 25 digs, adding two aces and a kill.
