NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - La Salle's Maci Bower has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday. The Explorers also took home the Defensive Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week awards, as Claudia Jenkins and Naya Vialva were also honored. The awards are for games played Oct. 14-20.
Bower, a Millville, Pa., product led La Salle with a goal in each game for a pair of victories, including the game-winner against Davidson with 58 seconds remaining in regulation. She also added an insurance goal in the 76th minute in a 2-0 win against George Mason. The redshirt-senior forward moved into an eighth place tie with her sister Madison Bower ('19) with 24 career goals.
Jenkins, a junior from Kersbrook, Australia, recorded two shutouts against Davidson and George Mason to push her season total to five. The goalie had seven saves between both games and faced 13 shots. Jenkins is now seventh all-time in wins (17) and shutouts (10) for the Explorers.
Vialva, a rookie defender aided La Salle to a pair of shutouts against the Wildcats and the Patriots, while also contributing on the offensive side of the ball with an assist in each game. Against George Mason, the Budd Lake, N.J., native assisted on Bower's insurance goal in the 76th minute. She then found Bower with a perfect pass with just 58 seconds remaining to defeat Davidson, 1-0.
