NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — For the second consecutive season, the Saint Louis women’s soccer team clinched the Atlantic 10 regular-season title and the top seed for the 2019 A-10 Women’s Soccer Championship. The eight-team championship begins on the campuses of the top four seeds, then heads to the Billikens' Hermann Stadium for the semifinals and finale, Nov. 8-10.
Tickets for the championship will be available at Hermann Stadium. All three rounds of the championship will be streamed on the ESPN+, the home for live Atlantic 10 action.
The Billikens (9-0-1) finished their season with a thrilling 2-1 victory at George Washington, earning 28 total points in conference play and 14-3-2 overall. They will host No. 8 Duquesne at 2:00 pm EST (1 pm local) on Saturday, Nov. 2. The Dukes (4-5-1 A-10) finished with 13 points and 6-7-3 overall, and lost the head-to-head tiebreaker with Saint Joseph's.
George Washington (7-1-2, 23 points) is seeded second with a 12-2-4 overall record. The Colonials will host the seventh-seeded Saint Joseph's Hawks in the championship’s first-round game at 1:00 pm on Saturday, Nov. 2. The Hawks had 13 points to earn the seventh seed with a 4-5-1 conference record and a 7-9-2 overall mark, and won the tiebreaker with Duquesne by virtue of their 1-0 victory against the Dukes on Oct. 13.
Massachusetts is seeded third with 19 points and a 6-3-1 A-10 record. The Minutewomen, who are 9-5-3 overall, will host sixth-seeded Fordham at 1:00 pm on Sunday, Nov. 3. The Rams are 4-4-2 in league play with 14 points, and 5-10-4 overall, and played their way into the bracket with a thrilling 2-1 overtime victory at home against Davidson.
La Salle (6-4) is seeded fourth with 18 points and 10-7-1 overall, defeating Dayton last Sunday for the final spot in the top four of the bracket. The Explorers will host the No. 5 Dayton Flyers (5-3-2 A-10, 17 points) on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 1:00 pm for the second time in as many games in Philadelphia.
The winner of the Saint Louis/Duquesne and La Salle/Dayton games will meet in St. Louis in Friday’s first semifinal game at 1:00 pm CT. The second semifinal match, which begins at 4:00 pm CT, features the winners of the GW/SJU and UMass/Fordham matches. The championship final will be played on Sunday at noon CT. The championship winner will earn the A-10’s automatic bid to the NCAA Championship.
