PITTSBURGH – Fourth-seeded Rhode Island shot 60 percent from 3-point range and got double-digits and got 36 points in the paint to beat No. 9 Davidson 84-60 in the Atlantic 10 Championship semifinals.
The Rams reach their first A-10 title game since 2007 and will face the winner of VCU-Richmond Sunday at 12:30 pm on CBS.
E.C. Matthews led all scorers with 19 points, including a perfect 4-of-4 from 3-point range. Hassan Martin added 16 points and Kuran Iverson scored 16. Rhody was 9-of-12 from long range in the first half.
Jack Gibbs, who scored his 2,000th career point in a quarterfinal upset of Dayton Friday, had 17 points. Peyton Aldridge had a double–double with 13 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.
