Saint Louis Advances to A-10 Semifinals With a 3-1 Win Over Davidson
ST. LOUIS — Third-seeded Saint Louis defeated No. 6 Davidson 3-1 (25-17, 25-23, 21-25, 25-14) in the quarterfinals of the 2016 Atlantic 10 Championship Friday night at Chaifetz Pavilion.
Saint Louis senior Danielle Rygelski, the A-10 Player of the Year, recorded 28 kills and six aces while hitting .302 to lead the Billikens past the Wildcats. The Billikens will move on to the semifinals, where they will face second-seeded Rhode Island at 6:00 pm ET/5:00 pm CT.
Saturday’s semifinals will be available on the American Sports Network (ASN) website, AmericanSportsNet.com.
The Billikens jumped on board first, scoring the matches first seven points including three service aces from Rygelski. The Billikens would go on to take set one 25-17. SLU would follow with a 25-23 victory in set two.
In the third set, Davidson led from beginning to end, taking the third set 25-21.
Mason Rooney recorded 10 kills for the Wildcats, which finishes the season at 10-19. Elise Edman led Davidson with 7 digs.
Two Billikens recorded double-digit digs, led by Ashley Gagen and Nenye Okoro with 10.
