Davidson Wins First Championship Game, Forces Game Two
ST. LOUIS -- No. 6 Davidson beat No. 1 VCU in the first final of the Atlantic 10 Baseball Champions to force a winner-take-all second game. That game is slated to start at 8:30 pm CT.
Davidson starter Josh Hudson went 6.2 innings, allowing two hits and one run with five strikeouts. Hudson started the game, and then returned following a 1 hour, 53 minute lightning delay.
Connor Gordon threw 2 1/3 innings without allowing a hit or run to earn the save. Eric Jones went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and Alec Acosta was 3-for-5 with two runs and an RBI on his fourth home run of the championship.
Logan Farrar was 2-for-5 with one run to lead VCU. Michael Dailey took the loss, surrendering nine hits and seven runs (six earned) in three innings.
