No. 3 Fordham Shoots Past No. 14 Rhode Island in A-10 First Round

BRONX, N.Y.– Third-seeded Fordham placed three scorers in double-figures to defeat No. 14 Rhode Island, 75-53, in the First Round of the 2018 Atlantic 10 Women’s Basketball Championship at Rose Hill Gym.

Fordham (22-8) will advance to face No. 6 Saint Joseph’s in the quarterfinals Friday at 7:00 pm in Richmond, Va. at the Richmond Coliseum. That game along with the three other quarterfinal matchups will be streamed live on the A-10 Network. The quarterfinals, semifinals and championship final will all be played in Richmond, Va. at the Richmond Coliseum for the fifth consecutive season.

Fordham was led by G’mrice Davis, who added 23 points on 8-of-12 (.667) shooting to go with 16 rebounds in the win. Lauren Holden had 16 points and six assists and Bre Cavanaugh contributed 13 points.

Powered by a 25-5 run in the second quarter, Fordham went into halftime with a 41-14 lead.

Elemy Colome had 15 points to lead Rhode Island. URI falls to 3-27 with the loss.
