CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Kingsley Bryce registered his third game-winning goal of the 2012 Atlantic 10 Conference Men’s Soccer Championship to pace #2 Saint Louis to a 3-0 victory over #4 VCU and claim the program’s second Conference crown, Sunday afternoon at Charlotte’s Transamerica Field. For his efforts, Bryce was named the event’s Most Outstanding Performer.
With the win, Saint Louis (16-4-0) earned the league’s automatic bid to compete in the NCAA Tournament. The Billikens will learn their tournament place on Monday, Nov. 11 at 5:30 p.m. ET, as the NCAA is scheduled to announce the 48-team field via its website – NCAA.com. VCU concludes the A-10 Championship with a 12-3-5 overall record.
The Atlantic 10 currently has four teams among the NCAA’s top 35 RPI leaders, including Saint Louis (9), Charlotte (13), VCU (21) and Xavier (35) – the same four squads are also ranked among the top 25 teams nationally. Saint Louis added a pair of insurance goals in the 33rd and 57th minutes, as Adnan Gabeljic and William Hidalgo each found the back of the net, respectively.
VCU held the 16-9 advantage on shots, while Saint Louis edged the Rams, 5-4 on corner kicks.
