Minutewomen March Past Dayton

MASON, Ohio—No. 5-seeded Massachusetts defeated No. 12 Dayton, 4-0, in the first round of the 2014 Atlantic 10 Women’s Tennis Championship Thursday morning at the Lindner Family Tennis Center.

The Minutewomen (12-8) won the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. UMass then claimed No. 2 singles when Sonia Bokhari defeated Carly Peck, 6-1, 6-2 and at No. 6 when Chanel Glasper beat Dayton’s Lily Iffert 6-0, 6-3. Bokhari and Glasper also had combined to win at No.1 doubles.

Massachusetts finished the victory over Dayton (4-15) with a win at No. 4 singles, when Anna Woosley defeated Mandy Marchant, 6-0, 6-1. Woosley had also won at No. 3 doubles with partner Yuliana Motyl.

UMass advances to face No. 4 Richmond, winners over No. 13 La Salle, on Friday at 10:00 am.
