Saint Joseph's Defeats George Mason to Advance to Quarters

MASON, Ohio—Sixth-seeded Saint Joseph’s defeated No. 11 George Mason 4-0 to advance to the Quarterfinals at the 2014 Atlantic 10 Women’s Tennis Championship at Lindner Family Tennis Center Thursday.

The Hawks (16-7) won the doubles point and captured No. 1, No. 2 and No. 6 singles to clinch the match. Aurora Davis defeated Mason’s Brittany Pilkington, 6-0, 6-0 at No.1 singles and also won at No.1 doubles with partner Alex Zachem, 8-6 over Pilkington and Ashley Delaney.

Kristina Eissenbrand won at No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-3 over Morgan Yang and Arianne Polatnick defeated Sofia Santa Maria at No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-0.

Devi Jadeja and Kelly Mulquin captured the other SJU doubles win at No. 3 with an 8-2 victory over Mina Saygi and Marijke Boers of Mason (9-17).

The Hawks will face No. 3 George Washington in the quarterfinals Friday at 1:00 pm.
