Colonials Defeat Saint Joseph’s, Advance to Semifinals

MASON, Ohio—No. 3 George Washington beat No. 6 Saint Joseph’s, 4-0 in Friday’s quarterfinals of the 2014 Atlantic 10 Women’s Tennis Championship at Lindner Family Tennis Center. GW advances to the semifinals to face No. 2 Saint Louis at 1:00 pm.

The start of the match was delayed three hours due to morning rain showers.

Isabella Escobar and Taylor Nederlander combined to beat Aurora Davis and Alex Zachem at No. 1 doubles and Lana Robins and Allison Hansen won 8-2 over Kristina Eisenbrand and Lauren Roy at No. 2 doubles to clinch the doubles point for the Colonials.

Leah Pascarella defeated Eisenbrand, 6-4, 6-3 at No. 2 singles and Nederlander beat Devi Jadeja, 6-3, 6-2 at No. 3 singles. Escobar secure the win for GW with a 3-6, 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 5 singles, besting Claire Minnoe.

Saint Joseph’s, which reached the quarterfinals with a win on Thursday, finished the season 16-8.
