RICHMOND, Va. – The tagline for Nike EYBL’s Big Man Skills Academy is “Where the Best Get Better,” and that’s exactly what VCU rising senior Juvonte Reddic will be looking to do this week in Union, N.J.
Reddic is among 13 collegiate big men selected to participate in the three-day event, which features NBA stars Amare Stoudemire and Anthony Davis.
The Winston-Salem , N.C. native is one of just two big men outside the power-six conferences selected to participate, joining UNLV’s Khem Birch.
It’s a three-day event with four scheduled closed workouts in front of numerous NBA personnel and a fifth workout open to the media on Wednesday, June 26th.
Reddic is coming off an outstanding junior season in which he posted 11 double-doubles en route to 14.6 points per game and a team-leading 8.1 rebounds per game. He ranked in the top-20 nationally with a field-goal percentage of 56.9-percent. He earned a spot on the All-Atlantic 10 Second Team and the VaSID All-State Second Team.
He also became the third junior in the past four years to reach the 1,000-point plateau, finishing the 2012-13 campaign with 1,025 career points. That mark currently ranks 30th on VCU’s all-time scoring list.
The camp is set to begin today at 4 p.m.
