Richmond's Nicol Traynor Moves On To Finals At NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships

DES MOINES, Iowa - Richmond's Nicol Traynor posted the fourth fastest qualifying time in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase crossing the finish line in a time of 10:02.94 to advance to Saturday's final at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

Day two of competition was suspended due to a weather delay with four events still to be completed as Friday's action is set to get under way at 11:30 a.m. ET. The men's 10K featuring the Spiders' Matt Llano did not run on Thursday due to the weather conditions and will be the final event before the third day of action gets underway on Friday.

Senior Keara Thomas finished her Charlotte track and field career on Thursday running in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase. She placed 20th in the event clocking a time of 10:35.15. Thomas won the 2011 Atlantic 10 steeplechase champion earlier this season.

With a lifetime-best throw of 63.66 meters (208-10) in the men's hammer throw, senior Bob Keogh placed 13th overall to earn All-American second team honors. Keogh's run at the championships is now over, as only the top nine advanced to the finals in the event.

In the women's javelin competition, Richmond's Heather Roush placed 14th to garner second team All-America honors. The redshirt senior established her best throw of the championship at 152-09 (46.56m).

Day three of competition at the 2011 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships continues on Friday, June 10 as five more student-athletes representing the Atlantic 10 will be in action including a pair in the women's hammer throw competition - Dayton's Mallory Barnes and Rhode Island's Crystal Bourque.; Charlotte's Jake Deaton in the men's shot put; Richmond's Amy Van Alstine in the women's 5,000-meter; and Temple's Travis Mahoney in the finals of the men's 3,000-meter.
