NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Richmond senior goalkeeper Anna Zarkoski has been named the Atlantic 10 Field Hockey Player of the Week, while Saint Joseph’s Melanie Colozzi and VCU’s Alexis Schramm were named Co-Rookies of the Week for games played between Sept. 9 – Sept. 15.

Zarkoski helped Richmond to a 2-1 week, including a pair of shutouts over the weekend.  Zarkoski began the week with a career-high 17 saves against No. 5 Virginia in a game that was ultimately decided by penalty strokes. The Norristown, Pa. native then helped Richmond blank Davidson 6-0 on Saturday, before she turned away five shots against James Madison in the Spiders 1-0 victory over the Dukes on Sunday.

Colozzi and Schramm both registered game-winning goals for their teams against Towson over the weekend. Schramm scored what proved to be the game-winner for the Rams in the 43rd minute of  a 3-1 VCU victory over the Tigers. The Fairfax, Va. native now has pair of goals on the season.

Colozzi scored her first collegiate goal on Sunday and it turned out to be the game-winner as Saint Joseph’s beat Towson, 1-0, for its first win of the season. The Reading Pa. native has started all six games this season for SJU as a freshman as part of the Hawk midfield.
