Simons opened play at the Little 3 Championship with a five-under par 67 in the morning round. He shot a 73 in the second round, to finish 4-under and capture medalist honors in the 40-player field. The victory earned the native of St. Mary’s, Pa., a berth in next summer's Porter Cup, a prestigious amateur tournament held each year at Niagara Falls Country Club and also led Bona to finish first in the event.
Wolters finished tied for 33 after shooting a 225 at the Cleveland State Invitational. He improved on the final day of the three-round tournament, shooting a 76-77 in the first two round before leaping up to an even 72 in round three. A native of Centerville, Ohio, he currently ranks second on the team with a 73.33 stroke average for the season.
