NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Logan Mohn of Saint Joseph’s and Amber Valimont of Duquesne were named the Atlantic 10 Conference’s Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Performers of the Week, respectively, the league announced on Monday. Also honored for their performances were John Masciloi of Saint Joseph’s, who was named the Men’s Rookie of the Week, and Valerie Palermo, who was named the Women’s Rookie of the Week. Awards were based off performances from Oct. 14-20.
Mohn, a junior from Shillington, Pa., led all Hawks at this past weekend’s Princeton Invitational en route to checking in with a seventh-place overall finish with a time of 23:55 (8k). His time bested his previous personal record in the event set at the Paul Short Invitational earlier this season by 33 seconds.
Valimont, a senior from Greensburg, Pa., led the Dukes to a team victory at the 25-team field Princeton Invitational with a time of 21:27 (6k). Her time was good for a third-place overall finish as the Dukes defeated A-10 foes La Salle, Saint Joseph’s and Fordham.
Mascioli posted a time of 25:12 (8k) at the Princeton Invitational as the Hawks recorded a fourth-place team finish. The Wilmington, Del. native recorded the fastest time of an Atlantic 10 rookie at the meet and took 31 seconds off his previous best time.
Palermo, a freshman from Webster, N.Y., was the top freshman finisher for the Dukes with a time of 22:00 (6k). She recorded a ninth-place overall finish and a top-three time for the Dukes finishing behind teammates Valimont and Haley Piscarsik.
