VCU 71, GEORGE MASON 57
RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Treveon Graham scored 13 of his 15 points in the second half and Virginia Commonwealth used two second-half scoring runs to pull away and beat George Mason 71-57 on Thursday night.

Briante Weber added 12 points and five steals for the Rams (13-3, 1-0 Atlantic 10), who opened the second half with an 11-2 spurt to extend their lead to 46-36, then scored six in a row after the Patriots had closed to within 52-48 with 8:02 remaining. Juvonte Reddic had nine points and 14 rebounds.

The Patriots (7-8, 0-1), playing their first conference game since joining the Atlantic 10, got 13 points from Bryon Allen, 11 from Patrick Holloway and 10 from Jalen Jenkins. The Patriots also turned the ball over 19 times against the Rams' steady pressure, and VCU turned the takeaways into 18 points.

LA SALLE 76, GEORGE WASHINGTON 73
PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Tyreek Duren's two free throws with two seconds left in the game preserved La Salle's 76-73 win over George Washington in the Atlantic 10 Conference opener for both schools Thursday night.

Patricio Garino's layup with six seconds left cut the La Salle lead to two, 74-72, and Joe McDonald stole the ball two seconds later, only to turn the ball over himself.

La Salle took the lead early in the first half and did not trail again. The Explorers' biggest lead was seven points in the first half.

Sam Mills led the Explorers (8-6, 1-0) with 17 points. Tyrone Garland added 15 points and Duren added 13. La Salle shot 22 of 45 from the floor (48.9 percent) and was 9 of 20 from long range.
Isaiah Armwood and Garino each scored 15 points for George Washington (12-3, 0-1), and McDonald added another 12 points.
