The Atlantic 10 is one of only four conferences with four or more teams that have reached 13 wins. Only the Big 10 (six teams), the Big 12 and the Pac-12 (five teams each) have more 13-win teams than the A-10.
The A-10 has four teams on multiple-game winning streaks, including nine straight by Saint Louis. VCU has won five in a row, Massachusetts has won four straight and La Salle has won three in a row.
UMass moved up in both polls this week, checking in at No. 16 in the AP Poll and No. 15 in the Coaches’ Poll. Saint Louis is also ranked in the AP Poll and is the first team outside of the Coaches’ Top 25. George Washington and VCU are also receiving votes. Dayton was also ranked earlier this season. In the latest Bracketologies, ESPN’s Joe Lunardi has five A-10 teams in the Big Dance (UMass, Saint Louis, VCU) while Jerry Palm of CBSSports.com has four teams (UMass, Dayton, George Washington, VCU) with SLU listed among his first four out.
The Atlantic 10 completed the bulk of its non-conference schedule with a 70.4 winning percentage. A-10 teams have registered four wins over ranked teams and 16 wins against the big five conferences (ACC, Big 10, Big 12, SEC, Pac-12).
The A-10 has nine of its 13 teams in the top 100 of the RPI ratings, including UMass at No. 3 and five RPI top 50 teams. The league also ranks sixth among all conferences in the RPI. The A-10 also has nine teams in the top 100 of the both the Pomeroy ratings and Sagarin Ratings.
