WHO WANTS NEXT?--Last Tuesday the Atlantic 10 launched a branding campaign at WhoWantsNext.com. Visit the Microsite, share the video and read more about the branding efforts on page two of the notes.
Saint Louis, which has won a record 19 straight, stayed at No. 10 in the AP Poll, but moved up to No. 8 in the USA Today Coaches’ polls this week. UMass is receiving votes in both polls also.
In the latest Bracketologies, ESPN’s Joe Lunardi has five A-10 teams in the Big Dance (UMass, Saint Louis, VCU, George Washington, Saint Joseph’s).Jerry Palm of CBSSports.com has the same five A-10 teams in his bracket. Both of them list Dayton among those just outside the field on the bubble and Lunardi adds Richmond to that mix.
The Atlantic 10 is one of three conferences with five teams at 20 or more wins (the American and the ACC are the others).
The A-10 has nine of its 13 teams in the top 100 of the RPI ratings, five teams in the RPI top 50 and seven teams in the top 68 (NCAA Tournament field size). The league also ranks sixth among all conferences in the RPI and has eight teams in the top 100 of both the Pomeroy Ratings and Sagarin Ratings.
