CHICAGO, IL. - Saint Joseph's senior Ronald Roberts, Jr., will participate in the State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships on April 3 at Moody Coliseum on the campus of Southern Methodist University in Dallas, it was announced today by Intersport. The 26th annual event, which will air live on ESPN at 9 p.m. Eastern time, features 24 of college basketball's top dunkers and long-range shooters.
Individual elements of the contest include: Quicken Loans Men’s 3-Point Championship, Buick Women’s 3-Point Championship, Echo Battle of the Champions and Denny’s Slam Dunk Championship.
Roberts will compete in the Denny’s Slam Dunk Championship. One of the most exciting players in school history, the 6-8 forward averaged a career-best 14.4 points while grabbing 7.4 rebounds per game this year for the A-10 Champion Hawks. He led the team in dunks with 61 and shot 60.0 percent from the field to finish his career ranked second on the all-time list for career field goal percentage (57.0). Roberts, who was an All-A-10 Second Team and All-Championship Team honoree, totaled 1,398 points and 861 rebounds in his four years, numbers which rank 20th and 12th, respectively, on SJU's career lists.
