Saint Louis' Manning & Kristo; Mason's Kraus Named to Hermann Trophy Watch List

SAINT LOUIS -- Saint Louis University senior forward Robert Kristo and senior defender Anthony Manning have been named to the Missouri Athletic Club Hermann Trophy Watch List along with George Mason sophomore goalkeeper Steffen Kraus.

The MAC Hermann Trophy is the highest individual award in collegiate soccer. Near the end of the regular season, college coaches will select 15 semifinalists. From that pool, three finalists will be named, with one earning the trophy in January at the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis

It is the second straight season Kristo and Manning have been named to the Hermann Trophy Watch List. Kristo was one of 15 Hermann Trophy semifinalists in 2012.

Last season, Kristo was tabbed a Third-Team All-American by the NSCAA for a second straight year after leading the Billikens with 25 points (10G, 5A). With 66 career points (27G, 12A), he needs just six more points to crack SLU’s top 20 list of all-time scorers. Kristo has led the Billikens in points and goals in each of his first three seasons. If he does it again his senior year, he would be the first Billiken since Brian McBride (1990-93) to lead SLU in scoring all four years.

Despite missing the first six games of the 2013 season due to injury, Manning emerged as one of the top defenders in the country. He was named the Atlantic 10 Conference’s Defender of the Year and picked up Second-Team All-Region honors from the NSCAA. Manning anchored a SLU back line that yielded just 0.90 goals per game and helped post eight shutouts.

Kraus started all 21 games in net for Mason in 2013, recording nine shutouts en route to earning A-10 Rookie of the Year honors, All-Atlantic 10 Second-Team honors, Second-Team All-Region honors and being named a Third-Team NSCAA/Continental Tire All-American. Kraus posted to shutouts in Mason’s run to the 2013 A-10 Championship and helped the Patriots to a second-round appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
