NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Atlantic 10 Commissioner Bernadette V. McGlade released the following statement regarding the restructuring vote passed by the NCAA Division I Board of Directors, giving autonomy to the Five equity FBS conferences.

"No one is surprised at the Board’s adoption of this new governance model, but despite all the rhetoric around this issue, the majority of the leadership in Division I supports enhancing student-athlete benefits,” stated McGlade.  "I believe the real work begins now as we see how the 5 equity conferences manage their new-found ability to approve legislation; as for the Atlantic 10, we will evaluate each opportunity and adopt the proposals that make sense, benefit our student-athletes and will be impactful to maintaining the national success that we have established in NCAA championship competition."
