NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Dayton’s Ryan Peterson has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Men’s Soccer Player of the Week, while his teammate Rafael Gamboa has been named the A-10 Rookie of the Week for matches played Sept. 16 – Sept. 22.

Peterson scored a pair of goals this past weekend, including the game-winner over IUPUI on Sunday as Dayton improved its record to 7-0-0 on the year. The sophomore forward from Toledo, Ohio, scored in the 49th minute on Friday in UD’s 3-1 victory over Ohio State. He followed that up with a clutch goal in the 55th minute to break open a scoreless game and give the Flyers a 2-0 win over IUPUI.

Gamboa recorded two goals in as many games for the undefeated Flyers and picked up the game-winner for Dayton in its 3-1 win over Ohio State on Friday. The Costa Rican midfielder scored the second goal for the Flyers on Friday and finished off the Jaguars of IUPUI on Sunday with a goal in the 69th minute.
