No. 16/15 MASSACHUSETTS 88, GEORGE MASON 87
FAIRFAX, Va. (AP) - Chaz Williams had 26 points and eight assists, Derrick Gordon made a go-ahead layup with 8 seconds remaining and No. 16 Massachusetts beat George Mason 88-87 on Wednesday night.

The Minutemen (15-1, 3-0 Atlantic 10) rallied from eight points down in the second half to win their sixth straight.

Sherrod Wright scored 26 points to lead the Patriots (7-10, 0-3), who lost for the eighth time in 10 games. George Mason was seeking its first win over a ranked opponent in over six years.

Williams, who entered the game second in the country in assists at 7.5 per game, shot 11 for 17 from the field - including a layup to draw the Minutemen to 87-86 with 18 seconds remaining.

The second of two late turnovers by Wright, on a steal in the backcourt by Williams, led to Gordon's game-winner off a missed layup by Williams.

NO. 24/RV SAINT LOUIS 66, ST. BONAVENTURE 60
ST. LOUIS (AP) - Dwayne Evans scored 18 points and No. 24 Saint Louis won its first game since breaking into the Top 25 for the first time, holding off St. Bonaventure 66-60 on Wednesday night.

Jordair Jett scored 10 of his 15 points in the second half for Saint Louis (16-2, 3-0 Atlantic 10), which has won 10 in a row. The start is the school's best since the 1993-94 team was 19-1.

Matthew Wright had 17 points for St. Bonaventure (11-6, 1-2), which was in foul trouble early and ended with four players drawing four fouls apiece. Dion Wright added 16 points off the bench.

The Billikens are 3-0 in conference play for the first time since winning the first three in the Mid-Continent Conference in 1989-90. It was also SLU’s 10th straight win.

SAINT JOSEPH’S 84, DUQUESNE 75
PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Langston Galloway scored a career-high 26 points, 24 in the first half as Saint Joseph built a 30-point lead and cruised to an 84-75 win over Duquesne in their Atlantic 10 home opener Wednesday night.

Saint Joseph's (11-5, 2-1 A-10) shot a blistering 71.4 percent (20 of 28) from the field in the first half and draining 12 of 18 3-point attempts. Galloway was 9 of 11 from the field and 6 of 7 from 3-point range.

Duquesne was scoreless for the first six minutes of the game. Galloway's sixth 3-pointer of the first half gave the Hawks their largest lead, 48-11, with 3:23 left.

The Dukes closed in the final minutes against Saint Joseph's reserves, closing with a 25-2 run.

Chris Wilson had 16 points for Saint Joseph's.

Jerry Jones and Derrick Colter each scored 14 points to lead Duquesne (8-7, 1-2).

LA SALLE 72, RHODE ISLAND 62
PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Tyreek Duren scored 15 points and Jerrell Wright added 14 as La Salle defeated Rhode Island 72-62 on Wednesday night for its fourth straight victory.

The Explorers (10-6, 3-0 Atlantic 10 Conference) erased a one-point deficit in the latter part of the first half with a 15-2 run, taking a 32-20 lead and never trailing again.

Steve Zack and Sam Mills each had 11 points for La Salle, with Zack adding 10 rebounds as well. Wright also had 10 rebounds for the Explorers.

Xavier Munford led Rhode Island (9-9, 0-3) with 21 points, while Gilvydas Biruta added 16 for the Rams.

Rhode Island was hurt by its performance at the free throw line, hitting just 11 of 21 attempts.

The Rams have now lost three straight since beating LSU on the road on Jan. 4.

DAYTON 80, FORDHAM 68
NEW YORK (AP) - Devin Oliver and Vee Sanford each scored 16 points as Dayton defeated Fordham 80-68 Wednesday night.

Dayton (13-4, 1-1 Atlantic 10) bounces back after having its three-game winning streak snapped by Saint Louis in the conference opener on Saturday.

Oliver's dunk gave Dayton a 29-27 lead with 4:45 to play in the first half, and the Flyers led by three at halftime. His layup capped a 10-2 run to open the second half, giving Dayton a 49-38 lead with 16:03 to play. The Flyers led by double digits the rest of the way.

Khari Price scored 15 points and Dyshawn Pierre added 10 for Dayton.
