>With a win on Wednesday at George Mason, Duquesne improved to 15-6 overall and 7-1 in the Atlantic 10 Conference and remains in first place. The victory also ties a program record with six consecutive conference wins. The Dukes also tied their best-ever 8-game start to the conference season (2013, 2011, 1998).
>The A-10 has five teams ranked in the top 75 of the RPI. Saint Joseph’s (10), Dayton (27), Fordham (60), Duquesne (66), St. Bonaventure (75). The A-10 ranks No. 9 among conferences.
>La Salle’s Alicia Cropper and Saint Joseph’s Natasha Cloud have been named Co-Atlantic 10 Women’s Basketball Players of the Week, while Richmond’s Olivia Healy has been tabbed as the Rookie of the Week for games played Jan. 20-26. Richmond with nine rebounds. This was also her second-straight and fourth career game with 20 or more points.
>Backed by a 50 percent shooting second half, the Saint Joseph’s women’s basketball team topped Dayton, 75-63, Sunday evening at Hagan Arena. The Hawks were led by junior Natasha Cloud’s 21 points, eight assists and eight rebounds as they improved to 16-4 overall and 5-2 in the Atlantic 10. The loss snaps a 10 game winning streak by the Flyers and it was Dayton’s first regular season league loss since 2012.
>Four teams (Dayton, George Washington, Fordham, VCU) have had winning streaks of 8 or more, while George Washington, La Salle, St. Bonaventure & VCU have already eclipsed their respective win totals from last year.
