A-10 News and Notes
The A-10 has five teams ranked in the top 74 of the RPI.  Saint Joseph’s (13), Dayton (21),  St. Bonaventure (57), Fordham (58), and Duquesne (74). The A-10 ranks No. 9 among conferences.

 VCU surrendered its fewest points in more than a year Saturday against Rhode Island. It was VCU’s fewest points allowed since UMBC could only muster 41 on Dec. 5, 2012.

 GW has won five of its last six games, including victories over VCU and Massachusetts this week. The Colonials’ 18 wins are their most since 2007-08, and they are assured of a winning A-10 record for the first time since 2008-09. Freshman Caira Washington is averaging 18.8 points and 12.3 rebounds in her last four games, including a career-high double-double of 25 points and 16 rebounds against UMass on Saturday. Graduate student Danni Jackson recorded her 500th career assist on Saturday, the fourth Colonial ever to reach that mark, and she is just the second player in program history with 1,000 points and 500 assists.

With its victory over St. Bonaventure last Wednesday, Saint Louis posted a fifth win in a span of six conference games for the first time in program history. SLU snapped a five-game series losing streak vs. St. Bonaventure.

Junior Andrea Hoover scored a career-high 29 points as No. 25 University of Dayton women’s basketball rallied from a halftime deficit to defeat Saint Louis 90-74. The Flyers improve to 18-5 overall and 11-1 in the Atlantic 10 to remain alone atop the conference standings. The Billikens drop to 10-15 overall and 5-7 in A-10 action.  Hoover scored 20 of her career-high 29 points in the second half, including a four-point play with 4:24 to play in the second half that gave UD a 78-61 lead. Hoover also had a game-high seven assists and six rebounds.
