Newport News, Va. – Dayton’s Robby Sunderman has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Baseball Player of the Week for the second straight week.  James Norwood of Saint Louis was named Pitcher of the Week, while Saint Joseph’s hurler Braedon Lawson earned Rookie of the Week honors for games played Mar. 17-23.

Sunderman led UD for the second straight week with a .579 average, 11 hits, and seven runs scored while totaling 14 bases in four games. With a .737 slugging percentage and a .619 on-base percentage, Sunderman anchored the Flyers in the lead-off spot. Just one week after batting over .700 and earning A-10 Player of the Week honors, the Cincinnati native helped Dayton jump out to a 2-1 conference record in two wins over Richmond. Sunderman has collected multible hits in eight straight game). He started off the week with a 2-for-5 outing and two runs against Toledo. Sunderman followed that up with another 4-for-5 game on Friday with three RBI, two doubles, and two more runs scored. Saturday, he added a 3-for-4 game with two runs and two stolen bases. Finishing off the week, Sunderman went 2-for-5 with an RBI, a double, and a run scored.

Norwood was sensational in his Atlantic 10 debut as a starter. He threw a complete game, one-hit shutout of Rhode Island, striking out six and walking two. Only four URI hitters were able to reach base off Norwood. On the year, Norwood is 3-0 with a 2.25 ERA and a .172 batting average against.

Lawson tossed the first complete game of his career, going the distance as the Hawks routed George Washington, 13-1, to open conference play on Friday. The freshman allowed one run on just four hits while striking out three in the game. The win marked the sixth consecutive conference opener that Saint Joseph’s has won.
